As the end of the year approaches, it’s easy to focus on the exciting developments planned for 2020. However, a moment of reflection is due given how much Windstream Enterprise accomplished in 2019! We knew innovation would be essential to helping customers remain productive, collaborative and competitive, and we focused on advancing our flagship platform, OfficeSuite UC® to support growth, ease of use and security. I’m proud to say we delivered on those objectives, while earning top recognitions in the industry with IHS Markit’s North American Scorecard, Gartner’s Magic Quadrant and Internet Telephony’s Product of the Year award, among others. Needless to say, 2019 has been a big year.
There’s no question that UCaaS is the inevitable step up from the outdated, premises-based systems of the past, and that businesses of all sizes have been realizing the productivity and customer experience benefits for years. This year, we enabled our OfficeSuite UC solution to scale up to 20,000 users per customer, which expanded our ability to service even larger customers with our award-winning product.
Innovative business collaboration techniques can improve a company’s productivity by 20-30 percent, which we’ve seen as a major driver for businesses adopting team collaboration tools like Slack and Microsoft Teams. In addition, voice-enabled tools like Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa are making their way into business settings to further enhance productivity. However, this rapid expansion of available business applications has its downfalls. Enterprise businesses are deploying over 160 apps on average which can lead to “app overload.” Integrating OfficeSuite UC with these types of platforms helps consolidate communications tools, enabling employees to leverage multiple apps within a single interface. This makes a serious impact on employee productivity and streamlines collaboration.
Security is a concern for all businesses, but ensuring communications adhere to regulatory compliance requirements is especially critical in industries like finance and healthcare. This year, OfficeSuite UC achieved HIPAA attestation and SOC2 Type 2 certification to help organizations meet compliance requirements and maximize security. Additionally, OfficeSuite UC became compliant with Kari’s Law – well ahead of the federally-mandated deadline. This ensures our customers can dial 911 emergency services directly, without having to dial a prefix to reach an outside line.
