If you been working in networking a little longer than you may want to admit, you might be predisposed—albeit incorrectly—to think of network migration projects as rather daunting and highly disruptive, with long planning time frames punctuated by planned outages.
Migrating to a next-gen Wide Area Network (WAN) is far easier today than ever before—why? By definition, a Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN) enables us to overcome many of the constraints previously imposed in a “hardware-defined” network. Logically abstracting network functions from physical network infrastructure has created new possibilities with much greater flexibility.
An easy choice
With respect to implementing a new network, we can layer an SD-WAN “over the top” (OTT) of existing public or private access , with or without addition of a diverse loop. With no need to “rip and replace” existing assets, individual network nodes can be independently upgraded with no disruption in service. Human resources supporting the WAN and dependent IT can schedule and manage the work required as part of their normal activities rather than instead of them. Implementing an SD-WAN has become so “easy”—at least in contrast to typical network migrations of the past—that service providers can deploy SD-WAN trials without any impact to a customer’s current network.
True business continuity
Adding diverse connections to an SD-WAN can enable virtually 100% uptime—that’s true business continuity. With confidence earned from a track record of success, Windstream Enterprise now offers a 100% uptime service level agreement (SLA). In the unlikely event that an SD-WAN with diverse connections does experience an outage, granular software-enabled visibility and control enable AI network to quickly identify and resolve the root cause, as well as prevent it next time around.
If flexible and seamless network conversions that lead to a world of complete piece of mind, backed by 100% uptime SLA are of interest to you, please join me in a live webinar on September 12 to learn more. If you’re reading this afterward, you can still take advantage of the replay.
